Notice of Fee Adjustment for Long Consultation– Effective 1 November 2025
To continue providing high-quality care, our consultation fee for long consultations will increase from 1 November 2025.
We understand that any fee increase can be difficult, and this decision was not made lightly. Unfortunately, the cost of providing quality healthcare has risen significantly, while Medicare rebates have not kept pace. To ensure we can continue offering the time, care, and service our patients deserve, a fee adjustment has become necessary.
Billings and Fees
- Welcome to Merrimac Medical Centre, we are a private billing practice. Our commitment is to provide a high standard of quality and patient care, maintaining Australian requirements and certification.
How to book an appointment:
- At Merrimac Medical Centre, each appointment time is individual understanding other patients after you. This appointment could be on the same day or with anticipation by: Walk-in patients self-online booking from our website phone call to our reception All patients will be triaged by our friendly receptionist and given an appointment suitable to the urgency of the matter.
New Fees:
- Long Consultation: $165 (Medicare rebate $84.90)
- Healthcare/Pension Card Holders: $145 (Medicare rebate $84.90)
Changes implemented from December 2022:
Our doctors will assess whether a patient could be bulk-billed or privately billed.
- Children under 12
- Queensland Workcover Claims
- Management Plan, according to the GP discretion.
- EPC prescribed on a GP management plan.
At Merrimac Medical Centre, we provide multiple health services for the patient wellbeing. Privately billing will include:
- Pre-employment medical certificates
- Mental health plan and assess.
- Commercial driver’s license
- Travel vaccination
- Vitamin treatments and IV infusions
- BP machine 24 Hs monitoring
- Dressing and health plan
- Non-standard time of consultation and procedures
- Unpaid same day appointment will incur an additional fee cost of $20.
All New Patients
- All new patients require a long face-to-face consultation for their initial appointment.
Medicare Rebate
- Patients eligible for a Medicare rebate will receive rebate in their linked bank account within 1-2 business days. To update any personal and bank account detail, contact Medicare personally:

- In person to your Medicare Service Centre

Cancellation Policy
All appointments not cancelled or cancelled with our professionals within two hours of the appointment time will incur a fee. To avoid this fee, please notify us three hours before your appointment if you are experiencing any difficulty. Before you left our center, please ask the receptionist if everything is fine. At Merrimac Medical Centre, we appreciate a mutual sign of respect and courtesy.
